Waterfront Oasis and Historic Home
Have the best of both worlds: total protection from the outside world, but immense openness and light inside the house. Relax in this huge (5300 sq ft), sun-filled historic home with views of the water from every room. Spend hours on the outdoor porch which wraps around 3 sides of the house. Sip rose wine (provided) while watching sunsets over the water in front of you, take a quick dip at the small beach 100 feet away or walk 3 mins to the bigger beach w/ snack bar and playground. Settle into one of the elegantly and uniquely furnished rooms, with antiques and hand-crafted furniture from around the world; here, you will find a house like no other: beautiful and unique, but as comfortable as home should be. And we provide 14 days worth of basic food supplies (pasta, soups, beans) and extensive food delivery/ pickup notes below so you never have to leave home, if you don't want to! Sea breezes keep the house cool all summer (always 10 degrees cooler than inland.) And there are optional ACs for the bedrooms (which we never use.) The house feels fresh, light and open. Guests have access to the entire house, with 7 big bedrooms, a spacious eat-in kitchen with full foodie-friendly kitchen tools, cast iron pots and pans, place settings for 10 (or more.) There are 4 separate dining areas: a formal dining table for 10; a sunny round table in the turret for 6, kitchen dining for 4, or sit outside on the porch at the teak table for 7 from Africa. Other things to note While Shore House is new to Airbnb (June 2020), the hosts ran one of VRBO's Top 20 Chesapeake Bay vacation estates, Dawnwood Farm, which had a 5-star review for many years. And our cleaner Justine cleans other 5-star "Sparkling Clean" Airbnb properties. Also, please see Suzanne's Guest Profile for more info. We are reliable hosts and you will not be disappointed. Please feel free to call with any questions! Get a firsthand look at "the submarine capital of the world" Groton, CT, right out your window! A few minutes drive north is "One of USA's most charming towns," with Mystic Seaport and Museum - both open this summer as of May 20, 2020. You can also eat at the many outdoor cafes - CT Magazine named 3 local restaurants in their top 4 "Best CT Outdoor Restaurants." Take a leisurely drive through some of New England's classic seaside towns like Stonington and Old Lyme. Don't want to drive? No problem! Take a short walk to grab a great pizza or full meal at the Par Four Restaurant at the golf course 2 doors down from us. In the other direction, during beach hours you can visit the snack bar at Eastern Point Beach. While there is extensive food and drink delivery (note will be provided) you can also drive to many fun family spots: Mystic Seaport, Old Lyme and Essex.
