In this article, I’ll introduce to you how you can save your money when you take a domestic flight ticket in Japan.

This technique is applicable to the following passengers.

  • Passenger must reside outside of Japan.
  • Passenger must hold a passport issued by any country other than Japan, or be a Japanese passport holder with permanent residency outside of Japan.
(Passport details are required at time of purchase.)
(Exchange students residing in Japan and U.S. military personnel residing at a U.S. military base in Japan are not eligible.)
  • Passenger must hold an international ticket/tickets to and from Japan.
(The reservation code or ticket number are required at the time of purchase.)

Yes, so those who are visiting Japan from outside Japan are mostly applicable.

You might visit several cities in Japan. From Tokyo or Osaka, you can travel to Kyoto via bullet train. But if you visit Hokkaido, Kyusyu, Shikoku, Hiroshima area, or Okinawa from Tokyo or Osaka,  you need to take a domestic flight in Japan. Domestic flights in Japan are not cheap.

It usually costs more than 500 USD for a round trip ticket. If you book a flight in advance, at least 3 months ahead of time, you might get a slightly cheaper ticket, but here is a secret how you make the domestic flights price in Japan to be cheaper.

ANA Experience Japan Fare

JAL Japan Explorer Pass

I really recommend using those two great plans to visit Japan.

The airfare is cheaper and faster than the one in a bullet train. For example, a ticket on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka will cost at least 14,450 yen with a reserved seat. While, the airfare is 7,560 yen.

How you get that great ticket:

Simply just visit

ANA Experience Japan Fare website

or

JAL Japan Explorer Pass website

and book the tickets.
