There are 11 public holidays in Singapore for 2020, and assuming you have 10 days of annual leave per year, you’ll certainly be wondering the best way to combine your leave + public holidays + weekends in order to plan a series of perfect holiday trips in 2020. Here at atta, we’re also recommending destinations based on the time of year and the number of days we recommend you to extend each public holiday.

New Year’s Day – 1 Jan (Wednesday)

Take Leave – 2 Jan & 3 Jan (Thursday & Friday)

We’d recommend you taking leave on 2 Jan & 3 Jan, so you can have a 5-day holiday from 1 Jan – 5 Jan. For this holiday, we’d recommend you going to Chiangmai, Thailand as you’ll get a nice break from city life coupled with nice cool weather. For those who love nature, there are excellent hiking trails and adventure lovers can try the famous Flight of the Gibbon Zipline Experience.

Chinese New Year – 25 Jan & 26 Jan (Saturday & Sunday)

Replacement Holiday – 27 Jan & 28 Jan (Monday & Tuesday)

Take Leave – 23 Jan & 24 Jan (Thursday & Friday)

By taking 2 days of leave during Chinese New Year, you could have yourself a nice 6-day holiday from 23 Jan – 24 Jan. For this break, we’d recommend you going to Tokyo, Japan and have yourself the ultimate foodie vacation. Tokyo is filled with lovely ramen shops, fresh sushi eateries, lively animal cafes, award-winning fine dining restaurants and of course affordable izakaya bars.

Good Friday – 10 Apr (Friday)

We’d suggest you don’t take any additional leave for this public holiday and go on a quick 3-day getaway somewhere nearby. We’d recommend Ipoh as it’s a short flight away and it’s a quiet town which is perfect for a relaxing weekend just simply powering down and recharging for the next week at work.

Labour Day – 1 May (Friday)

Vesak Day – 7 May (Thursday)

Take Leave – 4,5,6 & 8 May (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday)

By taking 4 days of leave, you can stretch out your holiday to an awesome 10-day vacation from 1 May – 10 May. We’d suggest a trip to the USA either Los Angeles + San Francisco or Boston + New York.

Hari Raya Puasa – 24 May (Sunday)

Replacement Holiday – 25 May (Monday)

We’d suggest you don’t take any additional leave for Hari Raya Puasa, and instead head over to Bangkok for a long weekend getaway from 23 May – 25 May. Get your shopping fix at Chatuchak Market, get your massage fix at Healthland and get your street food fix all over the city!

Hari Raya Haji – 31 Jul (Friday)

We’d suggest you don’t take any additional leave for Hari Raya Haji, and instead, head over to Kuala Lumpur for a long weekend getaway from 31 July – 2 August. We’re sure you’ll love the amazing street food like chilli ban-mee, KL style Hokkien mee or the Beef Kway Teow.

National Day Holiday – 9 Aug (Sunday)

Replacement Holiday – 10 Aug (Monday)

Deepavali – 14 Nov (Sat)

Replacement Holiday – 16 Nov (Mon)

We’d suggest you don’t take any additional leave for Deepavali, and instead, head over to Bali for a long weekend getaway from 14-16 Nov. We’re sure you’ll love the day-bars, just chilling with cocktails and relaxing at the beach!

Christmas – 25 Dec (Fri)
